My friend and artist, Niki Gulley has been in France and Italy conducting Art Treks this summer. She did a painting on location similar to this, so I decided to pretend I was there, as well. I felt like I was part of the group! I painted this on a 9 x 12 oil canvas panel with a palette knife only.
I have been experimenting with textures a lot lately. Smooth vs. rough, light/dark, various colors and so on. Most of you know, I love color.

Milessa was born a big city girl in a dry, desolate area of Texas where the only trees she saw were mesquite and the only things to climb was her horse. She remembers a lot of brown but that did not stop her from dreaming in beautiful, bold color. She paints in a playful and visual style.
