Culver, Indiana; Plein Aire competition 2022. What a cute little town. I was accepted into their 1st Annual competition and drove my RV all the way up from Dallas, Texas, to join in. A couple of my painting friends that I have met over the years, joined in the competition, as well.
I painted this one because the scene caught my eye right off the bat. Plein aire painting is fun and exciting but you must also know that there are many hardships that go along with it. Time of day, shadows always on the move, insects, weather…I think you get the idea! But I do love painting with "mother nature". Enjoy!
The frame is an antique "find". It was purchased at a farmer's market in Texas many years ago and I was told it was from the ceiling of an old bank that was demolished.
