I was invited to the Publisher’s Invitational in the Adirondack’s, Paul Smith, NY, by Eric Rhoads. He plans these plein air trips once a year in beautiful locations. This year, I decided to travel up there from Texas in my RV. Most everyone stayed in the dorms. But I stayed at the alumni campsite. There was no water, no sewer or no electric hook-ups. I am so thankful I had a generator because I had a freezer full of meat as I was traveling for 9 weeks
My friend and I wondered out one day in search of some falls to paint while at the event. We happened upon this place which is a privately owned site with beautiful trails, outlooks and bridges, plus a gift shop and small lunchroom. It’s called the High Gorge Falls. They do not allow painters due to the fact that they often times block the trails. Anyways, I asked the manager if just the two of us could paint and promised we would be out of the way. She told me should would think on it. About 20 minutes later she agreed. As Annette and I searched for the perfect spot a handy man (who ended up being the “owner”) told me of the best spot. He and I had quite a wonderful visit. So here is the spot he suggested we paint.
