My husband and I had planned on being in Russia for three weeks on an invitational plein air painting trip with the Publisher of Plein Air Magazine, Eric Rhoads. Due to the state of affairs and Covid, we canceled. However, since wanting to get some plein air painting in, we decided to go to Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and to the New York Adirondacks for Fall Color.
This was painted in my very first plein air competition. The competition was in Tupper Lake, NY. A very small town with a very big heart. They had some super good artists in the competition.
We happened upon this place by accident just driving around and looking for unique places for me to paint. Axton’s Landing is at the “dead end” of Corey’s Road. Though it was an accidental place we found, it seems all the locals know about it because there were many people putting in and taking out their kayaks.
