An artist friend of mine recently stated that my paintings looked like William Merritt Chase (1849–1916), so I looked him up since I was not familiar with his works. She was right, my style is a lot like his. In my version of his painting, I placed feathers and brushes in the jade vase because that is what is in my vase. His painting has it empty. Chase was eclectic, borrowing with pride and pleasure from many international styles, past and present, much like I do.
