Sayulita Sunset, 11x14, Oil by Milessa Murphy Stewart

Sayulita Sunset, 11×14, Oil by Milessa Murphy Stewart

Last week we went to Puerto Vallarta.  This place is so friendly and beautiful.  We drove the car around to the neighboring cities…if you want to call them that.  They are probably more like villages.

The colors of the sunset on this beach was gorgeous.  Since I had brought my paints with me to Mexico, I started painting the scene while there.  I was mildly disappointed in the results of using the “WMO” oil paints.  One of my artist friends calls her paintings that she does  “chunky” oils…I can see and feel the “chunky” with these paints!  I finished the painting here at home and find them friendlier due to the loss of humidity from being at the ocean…however, they are not like the oils I am used to using which flow like butter.

Sayulita, Nayarit is worth the trip, if you get the chance!  But don’t be surprised if you are asked to buy something, anything…even a little weed or coke (LOL, for pete’s sake)!
