The Celebration

The Celebration, 9x28; Oil

What was I thinking?
The releasing of balloons is a celebration of one’s life. Years ago when my Mother passed on, this was one of the ways I commemorated her. She was a down-to-earth West Texas lady. A say-it-like-it-was woman that trained horses and worked very hard. I have a lot of respect for her and her life. She was my biggest cheerleader. On her deathbed, one of her final statements was “I’m sorry I didn’t take your art serious, you need to get back to it as soon as possible”. I promised her I would…and I have!
